MICE-tourism — how corporate tourism works?

Corporate tours are a relatively new and rapidly developing field of tourist services. With their help, the company’s management solves a variety of tasks, from motivating staff to establishing trusting relationships with business partners and clients. You will learn about how modern MICE tourism is organized in this article.

Types of corporate tours
In modern management, the organization of corporate travel is indicated by the abbreviation MICE, which reflects the main directions of this activity:

Meetings (business meetings and trips). The purpose of such tours is to actively search for clients and business partners, conclude deals, enter new markets, and present products and services.
Incentives (incentive trips). This is a powerful tool for stimulating and motivating employees, increasing their loyalty, efficiency, and integration into the company’s corporate culture.
Conferences (conferences). Trips that aim to exchange experience with other organizations, discuss current issues and trends in certain areas of business, and jointly search for solutions and mutually beneficial development strategies.
Events/Exhibitions (corporate events, exhibitions). Participation in exhibitions to demonstrate your products and services or, conversely, to find them from other suppliers, as well as to attract new customers and partners.
Within these main areas, there are many narrower ones – for example, team building tours, corporate events, business trainings, excursions, etc. MICE Services are provided by travel and event agencies, exhibition centers, Congress bureaus, some hotels, etc.

Organization of corporate recreation and travel
Conducting corporate tours is a complex and responsible activity that includes the following services:

development of offers for clients, business and cultural programs;
booking of hotels and tickets, insurance, organization of transfers;
preparing and conducting business and motivational events;
consultations on obtaining visas, control of their registration;
organization of interaction between service providers with each other and the client;
technical support for events (preparation of equipment, accommodation for guests, etc.);
entertainment events, banquets, and show programs.
Corporate tourism
Many companies try to organize and conduct corporate travel independently in order to save money. However, practice shows that this approach is ineffective, since it requires significant resources, time and money and, consequently, distracts management and staff from the main activity. This led to the emergence of companies specializing in MICE-tourism.

Corporate tourism in Wanderlust
The Russian MICE-tourism market is just beginning to develop, at the moment it accounts for only 1% of the global market.
